Hiking Club Annual New Year’s Day Hike at Slater Woods
Let’s ring in the New Year by enjoying a hike in Slater Woods! Come enjoy the brisk winter air as we explore the woods, view beautiful Peter Pond, and check out Mass Audubon’s newest sanctuary, Oxford Woodlands. DCLT is proud to hold the Conservation Restriction on this 239 acre property that abuts our own land.
This hike is over easy to moderate terrain.
Highlights of the hike include walking the Old County Road into Oxford and exploring Oxford Woodlands until it connects with DCLT lands in Dudley. A short detour will lead to the Dudley/Oxford town marker and the US Geological Service marker before reaching Peter Pond for a brief rest. The hike will then continue through Slater Woods back to the trailhead, with a total duration of about two and a half hours.
- Meeting Point: Slater Woods trailhead. Off street parking at Kiosk or along Piasta Road
- What to Bring: Comfortable hiking boots/shoes, water, and warm layers.
